Although this was not tradition in ally Gothic, and the description of the gruesome expiration ca utilise some sections of the story to be much in the musical genre of horror. An element of Gothic literature that was in The portentous Cat and not The Tell Tale embrace was the use of reckons, simply the epithet itself was a bad omen at the time and the other story had no omens, other than the heart discharge motif that causes the bank clerk to confess his sins to the police. The title itself was not the only omen use in The Black Cat Poe writes around two other obvious omens in this tale. Firstly the swelled imprint of the hear of a capacious cat there was a leash some the zoologys cause it away, this was left on the wall the night after our cashier had killed his cat, this is not a figment of his humor though as other citizenry around discount see it u lterior on still the storyteller describes a lay of livid fuzz, which shows the understand of a hideous -of a ghastly thing -of the GALLOWS This is to a greater extent promising to be an legerdemain as the contriteness builds up within him. The capitalisation of the to a greater extent(prenominal) signifi assholetly deplorable oral communication personifies these aspects and emphasises the narrators business organisation of the cat and of guilt.Poe uses many different techniques to bluster the referee into the mind of his narrators. For example in the The Tell Tale Heart he describes his disease to the proof lecturer and excuses his actions. The disease has sharpen my awarenesss, not destroyed, not dulled them. This epithelial duct shows how the narrator is kind of openely conceited. His frenzy is revealed to us in a number of ways, first of all the deadpan tone of many part of the passage give the proofreader an eerie timbre of calm, that causes a disturbing sensation, much(prenominal) as when the narrator is describing his manner of covert his victims corpse, I took up three planksdeposited allthen replaced the boards This use of everyday lexis deposited around makes us bury that he is talking about a corpse, it makes the whole procedure sound mundane, which gives the mental picture of madness however in like manner spiritlessness to the narrator.Secondly, his lunacy is open to us as the character of the narrator is unravelled through the story. Throughout, hints are dropped as to the overconfidence of our narrator, repetition of heterogeneous phrases. what had I now to fear? and then again when the officers arrived, for what had I to fear? This reduplication of egotism makes us feel as if the narrator is tranquilize himself that he is confident, and suggests to the r eader that he has unexplainable insecurities lying below his cool exterior. Also in The Tell Tale Heart Poe uses many capitalised words and short, broken phrases to stronghold up the dance step of parts of the account. They comprehend they suspected they KNEW This shows how sincerely nervous and petrified the narrator is, and with the staggered, gaunt sentence structure makes the reader feel the same(p) way, even if not to the same extent.A way in which The Black Cats method of pulling the reader into the mindset of a murderous narrator is near the scratch line we are presumption some background about the narrators life. In The Tell Tale Heart we were effrontery no teaching about screen background or shape to help us detail our image. I find that this helps much as we confine more pictures multicolored to us and these can then eat our imagination to plead a cold more complex, tho realistic dread of the narrators mental situation. I was especially kindly of ani mals, This line is quite ironic, as we project from the rest of the story he seems to, infact, bring forth a painful problem with cats. The way in which Poe implies the insanity of the narrator is in the language used to describe his cats. sapient to an astnoishing degree His strange attachment to the cat gave the narrator an shady and shame feel. Then when he describes his motives for respite his first cat, Pluto, this insinuates utter, pschotic madness, the spirit of PERVERSENESShave we not a perpetual cutpurseto violate that which is truth This strange, confused motive gives the narrator a trace of humanity, but more of a childlike venom which emitts an air of austereness. This immature but wicked narrator, I find, is more chilling than the more simple, insane and evil narrator in The Tell Tale Heart, because of its uncanny alikeness to reality.A proportion between The Black Cat and The Tell Tale Heart is that both narrators have a sense of superiority about them and this strong pic of narcissism makes the reader feel overwhelmed by malice and also builds up a strong feeling of resentment to their pesky characters. In both stories, the narrators end with a confession to their atrocious deeds, both seemingly caused by freshness and bravado.Another feature that is in The Black Cat but not The Tell Tale Heart is the sense of paranoia disposed off by the narrator, about the mark of white hair on his encourage cats chest, the markof which I have intercommunicateassumed a rigorous distinctness of outlinethe image of a hideous- of a ghastly thing of the GALLOWS This paranoia of an omen about the sadistic murder of Pluto blatently lays out the narrators madness and causes the reader to feel maybe more sympathetic, but more likely, to feel more take out from the narrator. In certainty I ready the ways in which we were drawn into the psychotic person mind of our killers were more effective in The Black Cat, as some were more subtle, but the m ore obvious ones were easier to spot and gave a more definite and adumbrate picture of the narrators psyche. However, I found that the typical Gothic features used in The Tell Tale Heart make it more Gothic than in The Black Cat and also made the tale more chilling, even if not as gruesome or detailed as The Black Cat.

In these regards, the study indicates that when adding the same hardware technology to the PC that the Mac already has included, the Mac demonstrates significantly more pass judgment. This demonstrates that while ostensibly the PC is cheaper, in reality the Mac comes with significantly more value and quality. Another major consideration that one makes when considering the effectiveness of computing device technology is the computers overall efficiency. Many PC users remain unfamiliar with the intricacies of computer technology and contend that the PC actua lly is a more efficient machine than the Mac. Still, when examining this question more thoroughly one discovers that in reality the Mac is a significantly more quality machine. Consider the parts that are used within the Mac as compared to the PC. A general qualitative investigation demonstrates that the Mac has a sleeker design that doesnt bend and creek like PC plastic compartments. Another prominent element in terms of efficiency is the operating dodging. The PC only allows users the option of implementing Windows, while the Mac is equipped to run both Windows and OS X. This difference allows Mac users to tailor the operating system for the specific task, greatly improving computer quality and efficiency. Its clear then that the Mac is better than the PC in terms of overall efficiency. A final consideration that is made regarding Mac and PCs is within the realm of general useability. Oftentimes PC users claim that the Macintosh is an inferior product because it is purposely made more difficult to use as a means of differentiating itself. In reality, this is an erroneous assumption and that Macintosh is an overall more uncommitted machine. Consider a number of specific different between the computers. One of the major differences between the machines is the fast and effective boot time in the Apple. While having to wait an extra-minute or for a computer to load may seem like an insignificant problem, when this element is

Case Study Review & Questions Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Review & Questions - Case Study ExampleEvery unit in an organization should perform its responsibilities effectively for an overall favorable forthcome. CCTs customer service agents include one administrative assistant, seven client Service Representatives (CSRs), and the Customer Service Director. These make up the departments call pith. Current customer complaints show that the team is underperforming. This may be due to bad organizational culture or lack of professionalism among workers. The article reveals that the call center may be having too much work to handle. For instance, current high demands for CCTs work exceed the sustainable capacity that the call center can serve. This is especially in peak periods that have the heaviest call volumes. In a recent inherent report, thirty percent of customers who abandoned their call did not call CCT back. Instead, they were lost to competitors (Roberts, 2011, P.3). Hence, it is mandatory for the CCT CEO to find an effective soluti on to this task before it gets out of hand. If the call center continues to underperform, the best case scenario is that the majority of its customer base ordain shift to another organization with better services. This is because the competitors are likely to chance upon advantage of this situation and offer attractive ideas aimed at showing customers, the inefficiency of CCT indirectly. In addition, the worst case scenario is that CCT may face permanent dissolution in the future. If this happens, question shows that it is ultimately impossible for the company to attain the same level of success even if it re-enters the market base. This is especially due to the recession that started in 2008. Thus, the size of this problem is huge. Approaches to quality improvement are diverse. In CCT, the Customer Service department maintains a website that describes its services and the promotional offers that come from time to time. It refers all customers to the call center unit. Furthermor e, the call center has an Automated Call Distributor (ACD) machine automatically shares incoming calls among the units nine agents. These features prove that the CEO, Syme, was right in final that the staff may be ignoring the waiting calls. The other problem was that the companys organizational framework was not clear. For instance, call center agents did not admit if they should log off or not if they had a special project. Alternatives to the problem As an alternative, Customer Care could modify the website such that customers have direct overture to the services that they require. This will require upgrading the computer software to a more advanced transcription with the capacity of sustaining a large database. An example is the customer descent management software. The advantage is that it will decrease the number of incoming phone calls to the call center. Hence, calling customers will experience lesser time-waits or none at all. It will also ensure that the staff at the call center is not overworked. Hence, customers will experience better service delivery and satisfaction. The disadvantage is that the system upgrade will lead to increased operational costs. It is because online hosting services in the U.S are expensive (Bullen, 2012, P.76). Increased reliance on the website means that the company will have to pay for more data charges than accustomed. Another alternative would be to abolish the website system and implement another way of service

Noble Savages of 18th-20th Century and their relation to Puritan & Essay

Noble Savages of 18th-20th Century and their relation to Puritan & Quaker ideas about Native Americans - Essay fountNoble Savages of 18th-20th Century and their relation to Puritan & Quaker ideas about Native AmericansAccording to Bryan R.Wilson, author of The Noble Savages The Primitive Origins of Charisma and Its Contemporary Survival, the magisterial salvage believes in the existence of God in that it is inborn and exists within us rather than being an outside external power. It is innate. The concept of noble creature has become popular because it follows the concepts of being honest and of being a neutral but moral human being who believes in ethics yet is not as involved in religion or politics as the Puritans whose number one priority by all means was to follow religion. Puritans believed that this homo is just a part of life and does not remain forever. They believed that Native Americans are people who believe in military personnelly pleasures which are not permanent. moreover the truth is that in todays world, this is the kind of life which is very lucrative and seems practical for most people- on the path of righteousness in a worldly way with a lot of flexibility like those of noble salvages who were not considered pious in medieval times. Stelio Cro suggests that the beliefs of the noble savages were very gallant for many people who began following them, in his book The Noble Savage Allegory of Freedom, which is a detailed analysis of the life of these noble savages and how they became so popular. They confessed that they had buckram faith in liberty and freedom of speech and expression, in prudence and liberalism, in health and well-being- not only for themselves but for the greater world. They were strong believers of close ties with family and friends and were great advocates of fairness and equitable distribution of resources. They were followers of courage and had the confidence to speak the truth, stay on the right path, be nice to ot hers, contain and respect diversity, and ultimately bring peace to this world. They were against the concept of fighting and war and had made it clear that humanity was more important to them than anyone else. In itself, these beliefs were strong lavish attracts a huge amount of people towards them from the other extreme of Puritanism and Quaker Ideas. Puritans were in essence the opposites of noble savages who were aggressive, Protestants, critical and extremists who were highly ethnocentric and would consider themselves as superior. They were of the view that worldly matters are just a matter of time before they vanish and do not matter anymore. During the period when the renaissance was advent to an end and enlightenment was underway in Britain and France as well, the ideology of noble savages had become very lucrative and attractive for people who were moving out of the pitiful ages and were becoming modernized, educated and enlightened. In the eyes of Robert J. Miller who v ery well described the noble savage ideology in his book Native America, find And Conquered Thomas Jefferson, Lewis & Clark, And Manifest Destiny said that the noble savage concepts seem to have bought with it an array of hope and light of social revival, peace and harmony to the world for which they were gaining importance and Puritans were losing control and popularity both because their focus was more towards religion than towards humanity and they were considered to be primitive in nature no that the Enlightenment was in do and people wished to move towards more humanitarian

The three panels, bang these titles, are among the six stay panels, which were discovered decorating the interior of niches that were cut from the west wall of the large gallery, below Hesires mastaba (El-Shahawy & Farid 67).The six panels depict him in different costumes and present his titles and names carved above him (Kamrin 32). They highlight the aesthetic value of each element in the panel, p finesseicularly Hesires body and his accessories, which are represented with respect to the conventions of Egyptian art (Kamrin 17).Hesires historical art figure is in the form of wooden panels that were set for his remembrance. The wooden panels were initially eleven, but only six of them are currently available. People in Organizations Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

People in Organizations - Essay ExampleWe are all amateur psychologists, and the most successful influencers are fit to assess accurately their target influencees, and adapt their influencing messages to suit them. Such adjustments lead to the creation of influencer-influencee rapport. The conversation of people who are in rapport flows, and both their automobile trunk movements and their words become synchronized with each other. The recommendation to match the influencee so as to create rapport is itself establish on the even broader notion of liking. This says that we the like people like ourselves and, in consequence, will be more willing to comply with their requests (Aguinis, & Henle, 2001),.Not only do we know that people are different, scarcely we also know that they are predictably different. Indeed, we spend a great deal of our time classifying them into broad types, and explaining the differences between the types. Every popular newspaper contains an astrological secti on which implies that Capricorns behave in one way and that Scorpios act in another. The twelve signs of the Zodiac represent one attempt at classifying people into record types based on the time of the year in which they were born. How accurate or useful are they Historically, many attempts have been made to classify people according to their personalities. The Greek physician, Hippocrates, offered the temperaments model of personality. He believed that there were four basic personalities or temperaments - melancholic, choleric, sanguine and stillnessatic. In his view, each was determined by the amount and type of bile and phlegm that people possessed in their bodies (Aguinis, & Henle, 2001). Distinguishing Between Personality Types If you are to select a particular influencing approach on the basis of your target influencees personality, then the personality framework employed has to be both easy to understand and simple to use. You need to be able to divide people into a very restrict number of personality types or classes, based on the personality traits that they possess. In modern times, Carl Gustav Jung was the first to observe that peoples behavior, rather than being individually unique, fitted into patterns, and that many of the apparently random differences in human behavior were actually ordered and consistent (Lambert, 1996). It is obvious that any attempt to reduce personality into only four categories necessarily ignores the subtlety of human differences. On the other hand, anything more complex is unusable by an influencer. For this reason, in apply these four personality stereotypes, one is inevitably trade accuracy off against ease of use. The framework does allow you to classify the individual whom you may wish to influence in a simple way using your observation of their behavior and the examination of their created work or home environment. Such information can then be immediately put into practice. Personality examOne obvious way t o understand the relationship of individual differences to work-related behavior is to examine the applied literature on personality testing in the workplace. psychological tests, attempting to measure individual differences related to occupational behaviors, have been used for over 60 years, and there now exist nearly 80,000 occupational-related tests. Both world wars, oddly the second, were

Did Modernism Develop in Paris or Vienna Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Did Modernism Develop in Paris or Vienna - Essay ExampleThe essay Did Modernism Develop in Paris or Vienna aims to explore whether modernism born in Paris or Vienna. Nevertheless, Paris is credited with being the city where modernism started and took shape, owe to the fact that it presented the best access to valiant art dealers, who then bought and sold the deeds of arts, making it an interesting destination for international artists. The thought of modernism in Paris started much earlier compared to Vienna, at around 1871 and the early 1890s respectively. The difference is only that once the concept of art modernism kicked in Vienna, it had an exponential growth. Further, Paris provided the breeding ground for young and radical poets and authors from America. This is because, the operations of such authors and poets were rejected in America, and consequently, they headed for Paris, where they found the presence of other young publishers who had mall breakaway publishing compani es, and who were ready to publish their works of art. Therefore, Paris became the new ground for challenging artists, an aspect that in turn helped to create the unprecedented growth of the artists and their works of art, and thus Paris came to be referred as the city of light, to represent its ability to create new insights for artists in relation to modernism in their work of art. Vincent van Gogh was one of the artists who kicked off art modernism in Paris, but his paintings did not attract much attention when he was alive as they did when he died.

Scholarly paper - Scholarship Essay ExampleWhether or not a law prohibiting smoking in cars containing minors could be passed in the US would ultimately depend on the laws constitutionality at a lower get in the Commerce Clause of the US constitution. The Commerce Clause allows congress to regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the several states and has long been an issue of political and social debate. The lordly Courts current standard for determining whether Congress has exceeded its commerce power can be subjective, making it difficult to predict constitutionality of proposed public wellness laws. However, the court has shown surprising willingness in recent cases to broaden the power of congress to regulate commerce in order to protect public health. Especially to righteous children confined to auto mobiles and who cannot protect themselves, as such a federal law prohibiting smoking in cars containing minors could be found constitutional. Furthermore, if congress w ere to stand firm to take such a law into consideration, it could be possible for states, themselves, to regulate smoking in cars under the dormant commerce clause. This problem cannot be easy prevented by taking simple actions like opening of the car windows. This is because this action can change the direction of the air flow and as a top the smoke gets blown right back into the face of the child. What requires to be done is a law to be passed that prohibits smoking in motor vehicles. This can place stiff penalties to the offenders with the possibility that the parents can lose custody of their children if found engaging in the act.The level of exposure to secondary smoke by children is about 11% in the United States. This study was carried out among children aged below 6 years. It was also revealed that it was the parents who were the main source of exposure to their children, exposure by parents accounted for 90%. in that location was a new revelation in the research

The Criminal Justice Satisfaction Survey Assignment

The Criminal Justice Satisfaction Survey - Assignment ExampleIn the 2011/2012 report, 70.625 % of the answering felt satisfied with the criminal rightness organization as compared with 65.3% in the year 2008/2009 survey. Introduction Public confidence and perception of criminal justice organisation are fundamental in the administration of justice in any country. The system relies on the participation of witnesses and victims for successful operation. Bad perception of criminal justice system by both victims and witnesses leads to low involvement with the process of delivering justice to people (American Bar Association, 2007). It also results into disrespect of court pronouncement and rulings a menace to stability. The dissatisfaction is central to many studies conducted on the criminal justice system. In Northern Island the monitoring of bridging the gap in criminal justice strategy began in 2007 with line up and Victim Survey. By using the findings of these annual surveys, thi s country aimed at improving their criminal justice system to meet the needs of its citizens. Today, countries such as coupled States of America, United Kingdom and Australia conduct similar studies on regular basis. These studies contribute to the development of better methods of measuring and evaluating the public attitudes towards courts, law enforcers and correctional facilities. The general findings of or so surveys is that public satisfaction level declines from law enforcers to courts and finally to prisons. Meaning, the public view the stakeholders in the system as individual components. However, the Northern Ireland survey established an arouse finding which does not support this position. The satisfaction level with the services of criminal justice staff was 82.5%, which is the highest in among the four indicator scores. Surprisingly, the police, judges and the probation officers fall under the staff within the justice department. This leads to a conclusion, that it is the structures within the system rather than the people which derail the public confidence. The score on information flow is the last-place despite the fact that the victims and witnesses needs to know the progress of their cases in time. The sharing of information promotes accountability, good governance and transparency in criminal justice system (Worrall &Nugent, 2008). Summary of the Survey The Witness Victim Survey 2011/2012 aimed at measuring the satisfaction level the people who came into contact with the criminal justice system. These were the witnesses and victims who had cases dated January to June 2011. Amidst the Moral Attack on Abortion Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Amidst the Moral Attack on Abortion - Essay ExampleWade (Payment, 1993). However, plane until today, abortion has been consistently challenged by many Christians and anti-abortionists because they find the act immoral and cruel. According to an article by Haven Bradford Gow (2002), abortion is a violation of compassionate rights and that making abortion illegal is necessary to guarantee preborn persons equal rights. In this essay, I aim to challenge the views of those who oppose abortion by addressing three issues the model of killing a fetus, socio-economic outburst, and womens civil rights. As women make up 50% of human population (UN Statistics Division, 2002), they deserve all the rights accorded to every individual. In the moorage of abortion, women have the rights that a fetus does not have until its personhood can be established. Going back to the case of Roe v. Wade, the personhood of a fetus is generally dumb to begin between 22 and 24 weeks (Payment, 1993). In the same case, the concept of personhood is viewed as different from the concept of human life. Human life occurs at conception, only fertilized eggs used for artificial fertilization are also human lives and those not implanted are routinely thrown away. If abortion is murder, then it is fine to say artificial fertilization should be also treated as human killings.

The two incidences of descriptive writing state above are very significant in the book since they provide the audience with a clear picture of the situation the author is grounding on for his arguments.Due to the effectiveness of such descriptive writing, it comes as no surprise that Stonehill uses a similar writing technique in his song, American F ast

An additional document that would help see their point of views how women did not gain much would be a letter from a single mother or supporter that did not get help with her problems. This would be facilitatory because it would show that even after the revolution, there was not a great effect for some women in a good way, and possibly even make it a harder life to trouble for her kids and herself. Another effect of the Cuban Revolution on women was that women gained more opportunities for themselves, economy, and politics. Yolanda Ferrer (2), a female politician of Cuba, expresses her belief that an effect of the Cuban Revolution on women was that a school for nestling women was created to teach basic job skills. As a woman, she probably believed this was good because it educated women and got them out of the house into jobs, which they had previously been excluded from. Genoveva Diaz, daughter of a Cuban extremist (4), states her belief in an interview in 1970 that an effect on women from the Cuban Revolution gave women more opportunities to work in society and become equal to men. She probably had this point of view because before the revolution, women did not have freedom, money, or facilities to study which are accessible now for women to use and work in society.A Cuban mother interviewed by a United States daybookist in 1980(7), believes that an effect of the Cuban Revolution on women was the Family Code introduction, which guarantees equal rights to women in their homes. She probably believes this because daytime care centers help them and her daughters are able to collect an education. The United Nations, along with other international organizations (8), collected data from Latin American communities to show that an effect of the Cuban Revolution was that women went from being significantly less educated than men to ability to be equally literate and involve a contribution to the economy. They had this point of view because of the social changes happening between 1953 and 1982 that caused the illiteracy rate of women to drop, as well as men, and increased the participation of women in the economy. The Communist fellowship (9), showed an effect of the Cuban Revolution on women over time had an increased say in government and womens rights. As politicians in Cuba, the Communists party published this because it made them look like a better political party due to the increased number of women participating in political matters, which they approve. An additional document that would be helpful seeing the positive effects of the revolution would be a speech from a political leader about how the growth of women has been surprising and helpful to the country. This would help because it would recognize how womens contributions are needed to strengthen the country and prosper. Also, an effect of the Cuban Revolution on women was how women were still responsible for taking care of the children and home, not the men.A male Cuban revolutionary sympathizer (3), expresses his thoughts about womens rights to an anthropologist in 1969, believing that an effect on womens lives from the Cuban Revolution was that it gave women more freedom by gaining jobs, which he thought was wrong. As a male Cuban, he has this belief because it takes power international from men and time away from household tasks that arent preformed throughout the day by the woman.Vilma Espin, a female scientist, president of the Federation of Cuban women, and a member of the Cuban Communist Partys Central Committee (10), believes an effect of the Cuban Revolution on women is that they created a more stressful life to handle. She probably believes this because women gained jobs, but are still held responsible for raising children and household chores, rather than men contribute. An additional document that would be helpful on understanding this effect would be a journal entry or letter from a wife with children who had a job, creating a double work shift. This would be helpful because we would get a look at first hand experience how hard and tiring it was to be responsible for so many things at high expectations from men. Thus, the effects of the Cuban Revolution on womens lives and gender relations in Cuba from 1959 to 1990 include that some say women have not reached equality yet with men, women gained more opportunities for themselves, economy and politics, and also how women still had responsibility for children and home, rather than men .

Internet and foreign language education Essay Example for Free

Internet and foreign language education EssayA unused technology has surfaced and now it has caught the imagination of millions of people on this planet. Surfing through it, the internet has put everybody eager to explore more of it and to become a accredited part of it. The effects of this technology have permeated both small and wide establishments, schools, universities, and even governments. Composed of a collection of computers worldwide commonly connected via recall lines, Internets main objective is to share entropy. From early beginning in 1960s as a decentralized network connecting some war machine and academic computers, the number of host computers on the Internet has ballo unityd much. The World Wide vane now forms the most popular part of the Net. With the development of the Web, which was first designed for using text links only, further refinement into multi-media links resulted with pictures, audio, and video links. This has made the Web more popular. Today , fast modems can carry extra large files of graphics and sound linking target resources on the Net.With the ballooning number of websites and Internet users worldwide, educators could benefit much from this. Internet and Foreign Language3 Educators now probe the application of the new technology in the field of learning and teaching as very brilliant. They now scrutinize a wider application of Internet and the Web in language education. The shifting scenes from laboratory-based educational portionting, computer-assisted learning is now the fad. From monitored teaching process to interactive computer applications, the tedious and boring process has been replaced by promising results.Good software like CALL helps facilitate the language learning process though others see some degrees of rigidity of the program. Developers of CALL have to sanely go back to remedy the situation. Whatever type of computer, one can access the Net from any place, any time. Within the Internet is a mul ti-media information system called the World Wide Web or WWW or simply the Web. The Web has two systems the Web servers and the Web clients. The former dispenses information piece the other receives information. Through the use of Web browser, one receives educational webpages or otherwise.Educators are now reaping benefits from the use of the Internet. Language teachers so far are exploiting the electronic mail to create mutual interaction between and among students and teachers in learning language skills. With such innovation, multinational Internet and Foreign Language4 student participants have been encouraged to develop communication and mental skills from varying heathenish backgrounds. A study by Davis and Chang (1994) using electronic mailing system has set up an exploratory pattern as to what could be achieved in using electronic mail at improving the student writing in name of fluency, usage, and organization. This study has practically defied language and cultural bar riers. Knowing the culture is knowing the language. This adage holds true in learning languages preserved in a cultural environment. Accessing information on social, cultural, economic, and geographical data on a particular language increases ones repository for both the learners and teachers. Searching the Net for a specific subject needs fine tuning. One should remember though that a series of messages having the same subject coming from the original message has replies and replies to replies that follow. And this is how one comes about learning incidentally. This interactive intercourse increases ones learning experience applicable in the area of language teaching or learning. Besides, faller language teachers offer site listings valuable to avid learners. Internet and Foreign Language5 The use of the Net is not always in lilliputian order. It is not without fuss, which becomes a challenge to users. Technical glitches can spoil ones plan. Similarly, little familiarity on compute r and Internet use can break off ones initiative in pursuing to learn.Another roadblock in implementing such innovation is the cost of maintaining the system, which holds back institutions with little funding. Besides, censor whitethorn enter the scene when language program becomes offensive or indecent. Despite all odds, this technology will simply flourish as people prolong to interact with each other. And with the emergence of a global community that seeks to find a common world language, the burden now rests upon the application of this technology today. plant life Cited Davis, B. Macbeth Tragic Evil

Macbeth Tragic EvilDarth Vader A Modern MacbethObsession with ambition eventually causes heroes, who have achieved greatness, to lose control. These heroes are called tragic heroes. This is true for the men created by William Shakespeare and George Lucas. Macbeth, written by Shakespeare, turns evil, as does Anakin Skywalker from the Star Wars movies, made by George Lucas. The downfall of both men comes from the numerous problems they have.Anakin Skywalker and Macbeth were both heroes at one time. Anakin Skywalker saved a lot of people. What made him a hero was the fact that he was willing to help everybody. During the war, the people were depending on Anakin. He also had a best jockstrap and mentor in his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. They are closer than friends. Closer than brothers. Macbeth had also done some heroic acts. He had saved many soldiers on the battlefield. He was a General in the Scottish army and a true war hero. But alls too weak For brave Macbeth, Disdaining for tune, with his brandished steel. In the beginning of the play, Macbeth saves Scotland and restores peace treaty with help from his best friend, Banquo. Macbeth also looks up to Duncan, the King of Scotland.Anakin Skywalker and Macbeth both had a tragic flaw that led them down the path to the dark side. Anakin has always had anger, fear, and a desire for more power. Macbeth has also had similar ambitions and desires for power. Once Macbeth hears of the witchs prophecies, he begins thinking evil thoughts and murderous ideas. He considers doing it, but has internal conflicts about it. Both men had evil influences in their lives. Anakin had Palpatine manipulating him since he was a small boy, and Macbeth had the witches to give him evil thoughts. Know Banquo was your enemy. Both men had dreams about their own empires. They also committed many murders that were not necessary. Both men loved their wives. Both were obsessed. Anakins main reason for turning to the dark side was to save Pad me, his wife, from dying. Macbeth allowed his wife to convince him to murder Duncan and do other bad deeds. Anakin Skywalker and Macbeth had many things in common with their circumstances in becoming evil. Both Anakin Skywalker and Macbeth cognise they could not live this way. Anakin deliver himself in the end. Macbeth had the opportunity to, but did not. Anakin could not stand seeing his son dying. He destroyed his evil influence, Palpatine. By doing this, he fulfilled his destiny and brought balance to the force. Anakin Skywalker died peacefully in his sons presence. Help me take this mask off, let me look upon you with my own eyes. Macbeth did not destroy his evil influence, the witches, but he did recognize their evil intentions. He realized that their prophecies were meant to deceive him. Macbeth became a warrior again. He died with honor, bravely. Yet I will try the last. Before my body I throw my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff. Macbeth almost redeemed himself when he put h is sword down, but he refused to surrender. Macbeth is an example of a classic tragic hero, whereas Anakin is no longer a tragic hero by redeeming himself.Anakin Skywalker and Macbeth are both great examples of a tragic hero. They were once great heroes who gave in to the dark side. Later Anakin redeemed himself, unfortunately Macbeth did not.Works Cited Shakespeare, William. The cataclysm of Macbeth. 2nd ed. Utilitarianism And Libertarianism Views On Public Policy Issues Philosophy Essay

Utilitarianism And Libertarianism Views On Public Policy Issues Philosophy EssayIdeologies are a sterilise of ideas, ways, thoughts, goals, expectations and actions that are shared within a community. It is made by a society that intrusts in the same goals, expectations, etc. Its purpose is to offer miscellany in a society where the group belongs. It is a set of outlooks that guides its members on how to see things. Literally, it means the science of ideas. Moreover, it is a set of ideas that characterize a authoritative group. In this paper, two famous ideologies will be compared. The following topics will be covered in this discussionWhat is Utilitarianism? What is Libertarianism? How does Utilitarianism and Libertarianism view the public policy payoffs on economical inequality, homosexual conduct, and abortion?Which of the two is a more than win over ideology? What is Utilitarianism?Utilitarianism is a theory in ethics that believes in the maximization of things for the adva ntage of the whole society. It is a form of consequentialism. The goal is commonly referred to as joy or pleasure. It can be summed up to a general statement which states The advance of the greater good for the greatest number. but, there is an ambiguity in the words greater good. It means happiness or pleasure, not necessarily that it means the duty thing or prostitute thing. According to Bentham, it only means the tendency to augment or diminish happiness or pleasure. When talking about the number, wholeness is equal to one vote no one identity has a value of two. There are two types of Utilitarianism Act Utilitarianism and Rule Utilitarianism. Act Utilitarianism believes that the better(p) action is the one that can give the most happiness. It has no moral rules. It believes that for distributively individual situation, there is an individual action that is to be justified as best if it is for the greatest happiness. On the former(a) hand, Rule Utilitarianism believes that there is a general act of greatest happiness for each situation. In general, it believes in a set of rules or laws that is perceived to be for the greatest happiness. Furthermore, a Rule Utilitarian will consult the rules instead of acting first. What is Libertarianism?Libertarianism is the belief in liberty. It is set of beliefs and ideas which advocates the maximization of an individuals thinking and living by abolishing or minimizing the power of the state. It believes in a world that is free, peaceful and abundant. Also, they want to take control of their own lives without victorious into consideration other ideas. Each individual has his own opinions each individual may choose what to do with his carriage. Libertarians believe that each individual has his own life and that he has a freedom to choose and live his life. Their goal is to bring liberty into the world. They believe in the non-initiation of force. How does Utilitarianism and Libertarianism view the public policy iss ues on economic inequality, homosexual conduct, and abortion?First, the issue of economic inequality, the Utilitarians believe that if something is benefiting the whole of the population, it is considered good. For example, if the economic inequality is of benefit to the greater masses and that it brings the greatest happiness for the community, it is considered to be good. But the Act and Rule Utilitarians differ in how they view economic inequality homosexual right wings. For an Act Utilitarian, if torture is benefiting the population, even though it is a infringement of the human rights in general, it is still good for the Utilitarians. Their goal is just to achieve happiness for the greatest number. If the majority of the people achieve happiness in torturing, it is not wrong for them. Furthermore, for a Rule Utilitarian, human right is considered a moral rule. They follow their rules, whatever it takes. They will protect it whenever possible. Therefore, they believe that eco nomic inequality is not right. On the contrary, for the Libertarians, economic inequality is a no-no. Libertarians believe in equality, that each individual is entitled to have a fair judgement in the law. Libertarians grant each individual freedom on what they want to do in their lives. They oppose every kind of unequal treatment such as racism, discrimination, etc.Second, the issue of homosexual conduct, for the Utilitarians, same as the one discussed before. They believe in the greater happiness of the greatest number. It does not matter if it is a wrong ethically mouth thing to do. Also, if homosexuality is benefitting the greatest number of the population, then it is still acceptable. If homosexuality brings happiness to the majority of the population, then it is considered a good thing. That is the general case. But desire the previous discussion, the Act Utilitarians differ greatly from the Rule Utilitarians. For an Act Utilitarian, if it is not bringing the greatest numb er of population happiness, then it is considered bad. Even if the thing is right ethically speaking it is not favoured if it does not please the majority. But, for a Rule Utilitarian, human rights are considered a moral rule. That is why they respect these kinds of actions. On the other hand, Libertarians view homosexual conduct as a right to express ones feelings. They are not against these kinds of act. As discussed earlier, the Libertarians view equality as an equal to freedom. They believe that each individual has the right to express his own individuality.Third, the issue of abortion, for the Utilitarians, it is the same old story. The Act and Rule Utilitarians differ greatly on their way of accept things. For an Act Utilitarian, it will do whatever that they believe is to be benefitting the greatest number of the population. If, for example, abortion is benefitting the society, it is believed to be a right thing to do. If abortion gives happiness to the majority of the comm unity, it is considered to be a good thing. On the other hand, for a Rule Utilitarian, it believes that human right is a moral rule. Thus, abortion is opposed. Furthermore, for the Libertarians, it is very name that equality and freedom is their goal. Thus, abortion is strongly approved in their ideologies. Their rights as individuals prevail. Although there are some Libertarians that oppose abortion, they have their own views. A view of an individual is respected in their community. Freedom in their thinking is what they advocate.Which of the two is a more convincing ideology?I believe that the points of the Libertarian are more convincing. People are born as free individuals, with human rights. As time goes by, certain rules were implemented as to make the community organized or follow a certain code. But I believe that these implemented rules and codes should not eradicate an individuals human rights. As an individual, I also believe in equality. I believe that each person has a right to live his own life. On the other hand, on the case of abortion, I oppose it because I believe that it is murder. The tiny speckle in the womb of the mother is alive. I believe that it has also its own rights. But comparing Utilitarianism with Libertarianism, the latter is the more convincing ideology. I dont believe that the Utilitarians view of imposing what is right and what is wrong in a society. I dont believe in their labels of good things and bad things. Again, it is a violation of human rights. In the sense that if you are not a part of the majority, you cannot do what you want. You cannot do things that the majority thinks that is bad. This is stripping you of your freedom. That is why I believe in Libertarians better than the Utilitarians.

Inclusive School And Inclusive Teacher

Inclusive School And Inclusive TeacherProviding a quality education for any(a) students in inclusive settings has been acknowledged as mayhap the most challenging, yet most weighty issue in education. The concept of inclusion maneuvers the stress on altering the system rather than the child. The inclusive work system is practically thought of as the inclusion of all students, regardless of ability into the same trains and croprooms with peers who ar non considered to have disabilities. Inclusive school is a school where all children argon taught to at a lower placestand and appreciate human engagements. Teachers and administrators receive the support obligatory to include all students in regular education classrooms. P atomic number 18nts concerns for their children ar taken acutely. In inclusive school excess education is a service not a place. Inclusive teacher is a teacher who is furnished with general as well as special techniques of command and who can ensure qu ality education for all students.IntroductionInclusive school is a school where all children ar taught to understand and appreciate human differences. Teachers and administrators receive the support necessary to include all students in regular education classrooms. Parents concerns for their children are taken gravely. Supportive learn and peer instruction are strategies used throughout the school. Where all kids are given the opportunity to develop real friends, not just peers buddies or helpers. In inclusive school the entire community honors diversity and supports quality education for all students.Philosophy of teachers about inclusionHeres what whatever teachers say about the philosophy of inclusionKliewer (2001) Inclusion involves all kinds of practices that are ultimately practices of good teaching. What good teachers do is to think considerately about children and disoblige ports to reach all children. Eventually good teaching is a relationship between two people. Good results acquire to the teachers because they enter into that relationship. Inclusion is rattling important and providing more than options for children as ways to learn. Its structuring schools as society where all children can learn. But on that points no formula for becoming an inclusive teacher or an inclusive school. Its not a preset system. Etscheidt (1999) Inclusion is based on the belief that people/adults work in inclusive communities work with people of contrary races, religions, aspirations, disabilities. In the same stratum, children of all ages should learn and grow in environments that look like the environments that they will ultimately work in.Heston (2000) When good inclusion is in place the child who motivations the inclusion does not stand out. Strong parental participation includes in the inclusive curriculum, students making choices, and a lot of hands-on and heads-on involvement. eastmost (1995) Inclusive education means working of teachers with the student s in that situation which is suitable to a miscellaneous population of students. It also means the teacher may need another prospect and goals for students, and its complex to get teachers to do this. Inclusive educationInclusive education means that achievement of education is the right of all the children in their own community schools. Inclusive education means that classroom teachers have the final authority and responsibility for educating them. This does not mean that all children will necessarily receive all instructional go in the regular classroom.Kronberg (1992) Inclusive education does not mean that students must waste every minute of the school day in general education classes, that students never receive small- assembly or individualized instruction, or that students are in general education classes to learn the core out curriculum only.It means, rather, that if a skilled disciplinary team decides that students require instruction beyond the normal developmental cur riculum, need services beyond the ability of the classroom teachers (e.g. mobility schooling or speech reading) or specialized services, then them (which includes the classroom teacher) ensures that students receive this help in their community school. Moreover the classroom teachers are in charge of orchestrating all the required elements of his or her broadcast envision.Stainback (1992) Some educators have suggested that inclusion means getting rid of special education special educators, and a continuum of services (e.g. individualized instruction and tutoring). We believe that inclusion means that those elements are brought into regular classroom. Inclusion embraces the concepts of integration and mainstreaming and promotes the idea that very one has a constituent to make, that a childs school experience should be one that is maximized, not restricted. We agree with Rogers, J. (1992) they note that inclusion means that the childs educational program is adapted to meet his or her faculty member or social inescapably and the child and teacher receive the support they need to succeed. adept inclusion never means simply placing a child with challenging needs in an ordinary classroom without adaptations or supports.Collier (1987) Inclusive education can function on many levels. In inclusive education the disabled student joins the general education classroom for part of the day, depending on the type and strictness of the disability. In inclusive education all students are in the general education classroom instead of the special education classroom. Theoretically this would eliminate the need of a special education classroom. Full inclusive education should allow disabled students to be part of the various setting, teach social skills, foster independence and provide opportunities to build friendships with non-disabled peers. Factors to be considered in the development of a full inclusion classroom should include age appropriate placement in local public schools, integrated delivery of services in the general education classroom, social integration, curricular expectations adapted to the level that best challenges the handicapped student, home-school partnership, staff development, team collaboration, and systematic evaluation and connect services.Implementing inclusive classroom in schoolsSalisbury (1994) It is actually useful that the process of inclusion needs to occur within the larger context of a school where there is a clear philosophical foundation teaming practices and a commitment to shared decision making. Unfortunately not all schools and communities value the inclusion and or teaming model of intervention. Even though national mandates and policies call for the provision of intervention services in mainstream schools laws alone are insufficient for changing attitudes.Stainback, (1993) Opponents of inclusive classrooms often refer to barriers that inhibit effectiveness of this approach. Such barriers include lack of ad equate training in general and special early education philosophical difference between the two disciplines lack of related services in many programs (e.g. speech language therapy material therapy etc and lack of monitoring systems and negative staff attitudes. redundant barriers that have been identified by other researchers include the emphasis on academic achievement in the educational reform apparent motionment competition for decrease fiscal resources lack of flexibility in teachers contracts and lack of clear policy directives. All of these identified barriers are indeed real issues and need to be turn to in planning and implementing inclusive programs for he/ she children with special education needs. Unless these barriers to inclusion are adequately addresses it will be difficult to convince reluctant schools and communities to move toward or adopt the inclusive approach.School-based learnednessAll parents want their children to feel comfortable and competent when they enter school yet there is no way to build in assurance that this will be the case. While this is true whether or not a child has a disability the concerns are sure magnified for children with special educational needs. Common concerns expressed by parents of children with disabilities relate to medical fragility and or special health condition (e.g. seizures asthma insubordinate deficiency etc). Peer acceptance and making friends participation in group activities (e.g. listening to stories playing group games etc) and fear and distress in separating from parents. The transition from home-to school-based learning places new expectations and demands on the child and family. Bout child and family must become acquainted with new people in their lives and adjust to new schedules. Parents know there will be certain school-related behaviors that their child will be expected to adopt.Inclusive TeacherTo be effective an inclusive teacher education program must instill in the pre-service t eacher an understanding and appreciation of diversity. It means they must be equipped with both general as well as special education techniques through pre service, and in-service.Pre-service teachers must also become comfortable with change and they must learn early in their preparation to be whippy and creative. Our classrooms have undergone tremendous changes and those changes will continue in the future. It is one of the biggest roadblocks to inclusion has been the inability of many educators to shift from one operational standard to another. This can be proficient by providing experiences that require forthcoming teachers to develop creative problem-solving skills and to view situations from different perspectives. Some of the main essentials of inclusive teacher are as underTeachers Beliefs, Values, and Attitudes inclusive educationMany teacher characteristics affect the process of inclusive education, for example, the type and level of educational training and the number of y ears of teaching experience. Ostensibly, the more training and experience teachers have in special-needs education and programming, the greater their chances for successfully implementing educational programs and practices based on inclusive education. And if classroom teacher are volition to teach children with diverse learning and behavioral needs, the chances for effective inclusive education are greatly increased.Inclusive education also depends on certain necessary values. Teachers need to value learning as a lifelong process in which they share responsibility with parents for maximizing the quality of childrens loves the need to enrich childrens academic and social competencies their colleagues and the benefits of collaboration and, perhaps most importantly, the goals of inclusive education. It has been suggested that the most critical element of inclusive education is the attitude of classroom teachers toward children with special needs. Teachers attitudes affect not only wha t happens in classroom settings but also the instructional option that is chosen for students. Unfortunately, many teachers are opposed to having children with diverse needs in their classrooms. This finding suggests that teachers must be given opportunities to confront their biases so that constructive and workable solutions can be developed. Attitudes vary according to types of disabilities, the types of perceptions people have about disabilities and the labels assign to children with disabilities. Teachers attitudes influence the nature of the interaction between students and teachers, as well as the students achievement.Schrag (1994) point out those teachers constantly communicates important messages to students about individual differences. It becomes obvious to all students whether teachers favor high achieving students, feel respect, pity, or disgust for students who have special problems, believe that every person has inherent value, or are prejudiced against those who are different.Enabling Conditions for Incisive EducationThe merger of regular and special education will not happen quickly or easily. The process requires regular and special educations to consult and collaborate with one another and to plan provide adjustive instruction for all children. It also depends on teachers positive attitudes and the resources available. From our perspective the most important enabling conditions are professional training and development, pooling of resources and administrative leadership and support.Adaptive InstructionInclusive education requires regular and special education teachers to respond and adapt innovatively and collaboratively to the unique learning needs of all students. Adaptive instruction assumes that each teacher will target and provide a wide range of instructional supports that are needed by individual students to effectively master the learning and behavioral objectives.Wang (1984) Adaptive instruction requires teachers to, Assess the c haracteristics and capabilities of each student, collaborate and consult with others to plan developmentally appropriate instruction. Than make environmental and individual accommodations to facilitate student learning. Than manage and instruct students in ways that permit those to master content at a pace suited to their abilities, needs, and interests. This will result in promoting all students social ability and social integration. One of the basic premises of effective adaptive instruction programs is that a variety of educational objectives, instructional stuffs, and learning tasks is needed furthermore, success in achieving instructional objectives requires a wide selection of teaching and learning strategies.Successfully implementing and practicing adaptive instruction procedures depends on teachers beliefs about student diversity, and on the enabling conditions of the educational environment.Professional Training and DevelopmentTeachers federations agree that present in-ser vice training methods fail to provide successful integrated learning experiences. Teachers need information that will broaden their understanding and appreciation of children with special needs-for example, information on how to identify learning problems, and on how to adapt the environment and their instruction to accommodate those problems. Their courses should include such things as dynamic assessment, individual educational planning, adaptive instruction severalize learning, multicultural education, and holistic curriculum development.Pooling of ResourcesInclusive education will need a high quality of service, requiring well-trained teachers, support personnel (e.g. teachers aides), transpiration services, school building modifications, and material resources (e.g. assessment instruments program materials and instructional aides). Inclusive education will impose additional financial demands on school board. Therefore teachers must be trained to pull recourses for inclusion.Col laborative TeamingSmith (1993) The ultimate goal of collaborative teaming is the creations of a collaborative school. At its core are the professional relationships, particularly between teachers and administrators, and the integrated goal of school-wide, continuous improvement, and shared responsibility for the continuous progress of all students within the learning community.Salisbury (1994) Collaborative problem solving to promote inclusive education is typically carried out between teachers and other support professionals who get together to solve specific problems, usually concerning a student or group of students, focusing on classrooms- based interventions increase the students chances for success. Assistance might involve interactions between classroom teachers and speech and language specialists, counselors, school psychologists, specialists in visual and auditive impairment, special-education specialists, or other specialists bilingual education, reading and mathematics. The relationship in collaborative problem solving is based on mutually defined goals and a common framework, and involves shared authority for idea generation, mutual accountability for success, and the sharing of recourse and rewards.Co-teachingReynolds (1991) Co-teaching may refer to cooperative teaching or collaborative teaching, and is sometimes referred to as team teaching. Cooperative teaching requires a group structure and clearly defined roles for the participants. Collaborative learning requites only a collaborative goal. Team teaching is seen to be either the equivalent or a subset of co-teaching. Co-teaching as an activity in which special educators and general educators work together in one physical space in a variety if instructional activates in order to provide optimal instruction to the greatest number of students.Achieving social integration investigate findings indicate that children with and without disabilities generally do not engage in high levels of social in teraction with one another unless they are encouraged and supported in doing so. Factors frequently associated with this lack of interaction include language and cognitive delays poorly developed play skills and behavior disorders on the part of the children with special education needs. It takes a great deal of energy and creativity on the part of early childhood educators to achieve social integration between children with special education needs and their typically developing peers as the levels of social interaction skills of these two groups generally differ to a significant extent.Individualized curricular accommodationsSalisbury (1994) Curricular adaptations are usually designed to serve two main goals to promote positive child outcomes and to optimize the physical social and instructional inclusion of the child in ongoing classroom actives. Do adaptations in an inclusive program actually achieve these goals? Results of studies relating to each of these outcomes lend support to the effectiveness of the inclusion-with-modifications model. Further studies however are certainly warranted. Such studies would do well to focus on the effects and perceived value of the process by stakeholder groups including school administrators teachers and parents.
